Attorney Gregory Falkenstein brings a wealth of experience in diverse areas of law across both the public and private sectors to his practice at Lyda Law Firm. His has served the public of the State of Florida as a hearing officer for the Reemployment Assistance Program, in which capacity he presided over the appellate proceedings of both claimants and employers regarding eligibility for unemployment benefits. Gregory also served at the Office of the Florida Attorney General in its Children’s Legal Services division, bringing Chapter 39 dependency actions in Broward County and advocating in the best interests of minor children removed from their parental homes due to abuse, abandonment, and neglect. As an associate law firm attorney, Gregory worked in the complex area of third-party property insurance claims, providing opinion letters to the firm’s insurer clients on questions of coverage for third parties under commercial general liability policies, in the context of construction defect litigation.
Gregory is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. As a law student, he served as Editor for The University of Miami Inter-American Law Review and earned academic distinction for his section-high performances in Legal Research & Writing and in Coastal Law. He also held a corporate internship with the intellectual property team at a global distributor of alcoholic beverages. In addition to his law practice, Gregory also boasts a second profession. Gregory started playing the viola at the age of 9. Fueled by his passion for music, after graduation from high school Gregory pursued both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and at Indiana University Bloomington, respectively. He was awarded a prestigious three-year orchestra fellowship at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach and afterward was appointed to the viola section of The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona’s largest performing-arts organization. He later served as Assistant Principal Viola for the orchestra and was awarded tenure in both positions.
Gregory’s work on behalf of his clients at Lyda Law Firm is informed by the broad perspective afforded him by his diverse professional background. He focuses his practice on nonprofit formation and advisement, contractual disputes and breach of warranty, insurance matters, trademark and copyright protections, landlord-tenant disputes, and educational advocacy. Gregory lives in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In his free time, he enjoys cultivating tropical plants and bonsai, riding his hardtail mountain bike, and being in the company of his friends and his two cats, Scout and Federico. Gregory also loves to travel and in particular has a passion for the country of Italy, its people, language, landscapes, food and wine.
