Abe Perea is a political consultant and lobbyist for Lyda Strategies, with a primary focus in grassroots work and social justice nonprofits.
Before joining Lyda Strategies, Abe served as an independent political strategist, grassroots organizer, and operations manager for nearly 6 years. Beginning their career early and close to home, Abe became involved with the Denver ‘Chapter’ of the March For Our Lives; a grassroots campaign in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman-Douglas High School Tragedy in February 2018. As Chief of Staff, Abe was instrumental in organizing the financial, political, and personnel logistics for the third largest march in the country; with some 100,000+ attendants. Soon after, Abe worked tirelessly with Moms Demand Action, EveryTown for Gun Safety, and many other organizations to coordinate testimony and messaging critical to the passing of the Red Flag bill in 2019.
Continuing the momentum of this grassroots work, Abe served as a Deputy Field Organizer and fundraiser for Cary Kennedy during the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary of 2018. They then went on to play an instrumental role in community interface on behalf of the Jason Crow Campaign, contributing to the election of the first Democratic Representative of District 6 since 1982.
Abe double-majored in International Studies and Psychology at the University of Denver. Their coursework focused on the complex theoretical applications of politics, cultural rhetoric, and social justice movements. With support from many professors, Abe had the opportunity to manage key media interactions for the esteemed Greta Thunberg during her 2019 visit to Denver. This particular experience furthered Abe’s understanding of the level of commitment necessary to overcome the climate crisis and navigate the 2020 election. Abe left DU to focus on those causes.
“People first” civic engagement and political praxis are hallmarks of Abe’s approach to campaigns. Nowhere was Abe better suited to do this than the MikeBloomberg2020 campaign. As Regional Organizing Director for Boulder County, Abe led one of the most successful offices in the state, outperforming in surrogate-voter interaction and candidate turnover. Abe also worked closely with Ari Ackerman and others to create correspondence between the campaign and local Jewish communities, to which they have deep ties.
Since the 2020 Presidential election, Abe has continued to consult, write grants, and use their skills in non-profit operations, general campaign and personnel management, and strategic community relations for private and public entities.
Abe is a Colorado native and resides in Lakewood with their family and chutzpah-filled cat, Ms. Ida Jean Coltrane.
